About TeamGen

TeamGen is a free random team generator built for the people who split groups every day: teachers dividing a class into project teams, coaches drafting scrimmage squads, and facilitators breaking a workshop into discussion groups.

Why we built it

Most team generators we tried were either cluttered with pop-ups, required an account, or uploaded your data to a server. We wanted something different: a tool that does one job well — fair, random teams in one click — without asking for anything in return.

How it works

Paste a list of names, choose a number of teams or a team size, and click generate. Names are shuffled with the Fisher–Yates algorithm (the standard unbiased shuffle) and distributed round-robin, so team sizes differ by at most one person. Everything runs in your browser — your lists are never uploaded, stored, or seen by us.

• Free forever. No accounts, no paywalls, no "pro" tier for basic features.
